megatech Terms of Service

Last updated: October 11, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Section 9 Technologies LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Section 9", "megatech", "we", "us"), for the megatech service at megatech.systems. If you buy or use the service, you accept these terms. If you're accepting for a company, you confirm you're allowed to bind it, and "you" means that company.

We've tried to write these in plain words. The short version: we run a relay for you, carefully, but it's an early, small service built on someone else's open-source software, and we don't promise it will always be up or that your data can never be lost. Keep your own copies of anything that matters.

These terms apply to all megatech customers, including existing ones. If you were a customer before these terms were published, we'll email them to you, and they apply to you 7 days after that email unless you cancel before then. Until then, your existing arrangement with us continues.

1. What megatech is

megatech hosts a private relay for your team: a server running the open-source Buzz relay software, made by Block, Inc. Your people and your AI agents join it from Buzz-compatible apps and share channels, messages and files there.

What we do:

  • rent and set up the server your relay runs on;
  • run the relay software, its database and its file storage;
  • give it an address at <your-name>.megatech.network, with a certificate;
  • take nightly backups (section 7);
  • manage billing.

What we don't do:

  • We don't run your apps or your AI agents. They run on machines you control, so an agent is only reachable while the computer it lives on is switched on.
  • We don't handle your AI model accounts. Anything your agents send to an AI provider goes straight from you to that provider, under its terms.
  • We don't run your community. You decide who's in it, what's posted and who gets which role.

Today your relay runs on your own private server in the region you choose when you buy (at launch, the United States only). That describes how we run things now, not a promise. We may change providers, server sizes or the way servers are laid out, as long as your relay stays separate from other customers' relays.

2. Buzz is Block's software, not ours

The relay software is Buzz, an open-source project published by Block, Inc. under the Apache License 2.0. Block has no affiliation with megatech or Section 9, and has not sponsored or endorsed us. We use the name "Buzz" only to say what our service works with.

Because we don't control that software:

  • Block may change it, remove features, or release apps that no longer work with the version your relay runs.
  • Parts it depends on may stop being available, and we may have to change how your relay is built.
  • We choose which version to run and when to move to a new one. We don't promise to run the newest version, or to update on any schedule.
  • Bugs in the software are not something we can promise to fix. We'll pass on what we find, and work around problems where we reasonably can.

3. Early access

megatech is in early access. It's run by a small team. Features will change, some described on the website may arrive later than planned, and some will never arrive. We'll say plainly when something is planned rather than live.

4. Your account

  • You sign in with your email (a one-time code) or with Google, through our sign-in provider. We don't keep passwords.
  • Use an email address you control and keep it current. It's how we reach you about billing, problems and changes to these terms.
  • You're responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your sign-in email secure.
  • You must be at least 18 to open an account.

5. Your relay's owner key

A relay has an owner, a public key that controls the relay's owner-level settings.

If you give us your public key at checkout, that key is the owner from the start. We only ever need your public key (an npub or 64-character hex key). Never send anyone your private key (nsec). Nobody at megatech will ask for it, and checkout refuses one if it's pasted by mistake.

If you don't give a key at checkout, a key that megatech creates for your relay is its owner instead. In that case:

  • you join through an invite in your welcome email, and you can make more invites from your dashboard;
  • we use that key only to run the relay and to make the invites you ask for;
  • moving ownership to your own key from the dashboard isn't available yet. Until it is, email us and we'll move ownership to your key by hand, as best effort.

The relay's own keys. Every relay also has its own identity key, which we create when we set it up. We keep these relay keys (and, on the path above, the megatech owner key) on your server, and an encrypted backup copy in your relay's backup storage, so that we can rebuild the relay if we need to.

Whoever holds the owner key controls the relay. Keep yours safe. We can't recover a private key you lose.

6. Payment

  • megatech is a monthly subscription, billed in US dollars in advance, starting the day you pay and renewing each month until you cancel.
  • The price is the one shown at checkout, plus any taxes that apply. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Price changes. We'll email you at least 7 days before a new price applies. It applies from your first renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before then.
  • Failed payments. If a renewal fails, Stripe will retry the card. If it's still unpaid after about 7 days, we may suspend your relay, which takes it offline. Once the balance is paid, we'll bring it back online as soon as we reasonably can. If it stays unpaid, section 12 applies: the relay's data, backups and keys are deleted after 7 days offline (deletion is done with a manual check and may run a little later).
  • If your relay never goes live. If you've paid but we never get your relay running, we refund your first month's payment in full (section 11).

7. No service level, and backups are best effort

Please read this section.

We don't offer a service level agreement (SLA). We don't promise any amount of uptime, any response time, or that the service will be free of errors or interruptions. Your relay can go down, and it may stay down for a while. Some reasons, among others:

  • the server, the network or one of our providers has a problem;
  • we need to update or restart something;
  • the open-source software has a bug;
  • someone attacks the service.

We may not know your relay is down. We don't run automatic monitoring of customer relays today. If something looks wrong, email us.

Backups. We aim to back up each relay every night to separate storage, keeping about the last 7 nightly copies plus a weekly copy for about 4 weeks. Backups lower the risk of losing data, but:

  • they are not a promise that no data will ever be lost. A backup can fail, be incomplete or turn out unusable;
  • anything written after the last good backup can be lost in a restore;
  • restores are done by us on request, as best effort, with no promise of how long they take or that they'll work;
  • a restore replaces the relay's current data with the backup's.

Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose. megatech isn't an archive or a records system, so don't rely on it as one.

Support is by email, as best effort, with no promised response time.

Security is something we work hard at, but no system is fully secure, and we don't promise that yours will never be breached. We don't hold any security certification, for example SOC 2 or ISO 27001. If we learn of a breach that affects your data, we'll tell you without undue delay.

8. Your content and what we can see

Your content is yours. Messages, files, member lists and anything else on your relay belong to you or to whoever posted them. You give us only the rights we need to store, copy, transmit and back it up to run the service for you.

What we can technically see. A Buzz relay is not end-to-end encrypted, and we don't claim it is:

  • traffic between your apps and the relay is encrypted in transit (TLS). It passes through our network provider, which handles the encrypted connection and forwards it to your server;
  • the relay software has to read ordinary messages to store and deliver them;
  • our systems have administrator access to the server your relay runs on, and backups hold a full copy of its data.

So in principle we can read what's on your relay. Some of our work on relays, such as restores and moves, is done with AI-assisted tools under our supervision. Our Privacy Policy explains how.

We don't sell your content, mine it, or use it to train AI.

Our Privacy Policy says what personal data we collect about you as a customer, and how we use it.

9. Acceptable use

You're responsible for your relay and everyone you let into it. Don't use megatech, and don't let anyone else use it, to:

  • break the law, or store or share illegal content;
  • store or share child sexual abuse material. We will report it to the authorities;
  • infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • send spam or unsolicited bulk messages, or run phishing or scams;
  • harass, threaten or abuse people;
  • spread malware, or run anything that attacks or probes other systems;
  • try to reach other customers' relays, our servers or our accounts, or get around any limit or security measure;
  • put an unreasonable load on the service, for example by mining or running unrelated heavy workloads on it;
  • resell or rent the service to others without our written OK.

Copyright complaints go to hello@megatech.systems.

10. Suspension and termination by us

We may suspend or end your service, or remove specific content:

  • if you don't pay;
  • if you break these terms, or we reasonably believe you have;
  • if your use puts the service, our providers or other customers at risk;
  • if the law or a provider requires it.

Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. In an emergency (an attack, illegal content, a risk to other customers) we may act first and tell you after.

We may also stop offering megatech altogether. If we do, we'll aim to give you 30 days' notice, a way to download your relay's latest backup, and a pro-rata refund of any paid time you can't use.

11. Cancelling

  • You can cancel at any time through the billing portal link we give you.
  • Cancelling stops future charges. Your relay keeps running until the end of the period you've paid for, then goes offline.
  • Refunds. If your relay never goes live, we refund your first month's payment in full. Otherwise we don't give refunds, including for partial months or unused time. Nothing here overrides any refund right you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.

12. What happens to your data at the end

Your relay goes offline when you've cancelled and the period you paid for has ended, when a renewal is still unpaid after the grace period in section 6, or when we end the service. Then:

  • we take a final backup first, where we can;
  • your relay's data, its backups and its keys are deleted after 7 days. Until then you can come back or ask us for a copy;
  • deletion is done with a manual check and may run a little later.

Once deleted, it's gone, and we can't get it back. If you need your data, ask before the 7 days run out.

We keep billing and account records after that, as our Privacy Policy explains.

13. Third-party providers

megatech runs on other companies' services, including hosting, network, payment, sign-in and email providers. Payments are handled by Stripe. Their outages, changes and terms affect the service, and we're not responsible for their failures. We may change providers.

14. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title or non-infringement, and any warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that data will be kept intact. Some places don't allow some of these disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • We're not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business, even if we were told they might happen.
  • Our total liability for all claims about the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us for the service in the 3 months before the event that caused the claim, or (b) US$100.

These limits apply whatever the legal theory (contract, negligence or anything else). Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as for fraud.

16. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of your content, your relay's members, or your breach of these terms or the law, you'll cover our reasonable costs and losses from it, including reasonable lawyers' fees. We'll tell you about the claim promptly and let you help defend it.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and we'll post the new version with its date on this page.

  • Small changes, such as typos, clearer wording, or anything that doesn't materially affect your rights, take effect when posted.
  • Material changes and price changes: we'll email account holders at least 7 days before they take effect. A price change applies from your first renewal after that notice.

If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept it. If you don't accept it, cancel before it takes effect.

18. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Talk to us first. Before starting any claim, please email us. Most problems can be fixed by talking.

Binding individual arbitration. If we can't resolve it, any dispute about these terms or the service will be settled by binding arbitration on an individual basis, not in court. The arbitration is run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules if you're using the service as an individual consumer, or under its Commercial Arbitration Rules otherwise. The seat of arbitration is Miami-Dade County, Florida.

No class actions. You and we each bring claims only on our own behalf, never as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative action, and an arbitrator may not combine claims of different customers.

Exceptions. Either of us may:

  • bring an individual claim in small-claims court, if it qualifies;
  • ask a court for an injunction or similar relief to stop the misuse of intellectual property.

Courts. Anything that isn't arbitrated under this section goes to the state or federal courts in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and we both agree to those courts.

19. General

  • These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
  • If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't given up the right to.
  • You may not transfer this agreement without our OK. We may transfer it as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business, and we'll tell you if we do.
  • Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by things outside our reasonable control.
